IIT JEE 2008 Pune Coaching Institutes - Performance


100 out of the 2,000-odd students from the city who appeared in the JEE 2008 figured for the all India (AI) rankings.

Last year, 110 students from the city had qualified for IITs.


At All India rank 117, Prashant Sohani returned the best performance by any student from Pune in this year's IIT-JEE. The best five results from the city were provided by the M Prakash Academy where Prashant also did his IIT-JEE studies. Yogesh Kumbhejkar (AI rank 154); Aniket Modi (209); Kshitij Mahajan (231) and Vihang Mehta (252) were the other top performers.

According to M Prakash, head of the institute, of the academy's 70 students, who appeared in the exam, 28 got the ranks while five figured in the EML.

Sanket Diwale (ranked 252) was the sixth best from Pune. He was among the 18 students who qualified for the IITs from the Bakliwal Tutorials. Bakliwal Tutorials is headed by Vaibhav Bakliwal



City's IITian's Prashikshan Kendra had as many as 39 students figuring in the AI and EML lists. Mahesh Sangade, whose rank is 283, is the best showing for the IITian's kendra. "Of the 39, 25 got AI rankings while the rest figured in the EML," said Durgesh Mangeskar, head of the IITian's Prashikshan Kendra.



20 students qualified from the DG Foundation classes. 12 of these were ranked for IITs while eight figured in the EML. Aditya Huddedar with an AI rank of 304 was the best performer from the DG classes. Arun Ghawat is the head of this institution.
