Nishant Totla of Aurangabad is the state-topper — and also all India second rank holder.
Totla is a product of Bansal Classes at Kota in Rajasthan. According to him, it was his coaching institute that helped him the most.
Totla is still unsure of which IIT to opt for. Keen on doing a PhD in theoretical Physics or Mathematics, Totla considers IIT Kanpur and IIT Bombay as the ideal options.
Mumbai's topper is Pritish Kamat of Bhandup. Pritish secured an all India rank of 21. Incidentally, his brother who appeared for IIT JEE in 2004, secured a rank 22.
Pritish wants to take up either computer science or electrical engineering. “He had put in a lot of efforts. Everyone in the family including his brother, motivated him at every stage of his preparations,” said his mother. Pritish was all praise for his classes, “I can give my coaching class professor full credit. The coaching there along with my own efforts helped me.” He is a former student of Ruia.
Totla and all-India topper, Patna-based Shitikant have qualified for the international Physics Olympiad to be held at Vietnam in July and are gearing up to make yet another mark there.
Counseling for admission will be held from June 17 to 21 for all the declared all India rank holders. Courses allocated to the successful candidates will be declared on June 30.
